- 2 pounds of potatoes
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes, then boil them until tender.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned.
- Drain excess fat from the beef and season with salt and pepper.
- Mash the boiled potatoes with milk and butter until creamy.
- Stir in half of the shredded cheese into the mashed potatoes.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the mashed potatoes, then add the ground beef mixture, and top with the remaining mashed potatoes.
- Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like peas or corn to the beef mixture for added nutrition.
- For a spicier version, add some diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
