Description

A comforting dish that combines bowtie pasta, tender chicken, and vibrant broccoli in a rich, buttery sauce with a hint of lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set the pasta aside.
  2. Season the chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the seasoned chicken for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter, then add Dijon mustard, lemon zest, and juice. Stir to combine.
  5. Incorporate the grated Parmesan cheese until melted, then add reserved pasta water gradually to adjust the sauce’s consistency.
  6. Add the cooked chicken, bowtie pasta, and broccoli to the skillet and toss together until well-coated in the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle fresh parsley and chives over the dish and serve immediately with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare chicken and sauce separately a day in advance. Customize with different proteins or seasonal vegetables.
