Description

A delightful bowtie pasta dish with chicken, coated in a tangy, buttery lemon sauce, complemented by aromatic garlic and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 2 cup broccoli florets
  • 12 ounce bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta and Broccoli: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the bowtie pasta and cook according to package instructions, adding the broccoli for the last 2–3 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season chicken with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and let rest.
  3. Build the Sauce: In the skillet, lower heat and melt butter. Add minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes; sauté for 1 minute. Stir in Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and zest, and simmer for 1-2 minutes, seasoning to taste.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Slice cooked chicken and add it back to the skillet along with the pasta and broccoli. Toss together, adding reserved pasta water gradually until the sauce coats the pasta.
  5. Finishing Touches: Mix in grated Parmesan cheese with chopped parsley and chives. Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan.

Notes

Feel free to customize with vegetables or pasta types. Make ahead for enhanced flavor. Chicken thighs are a great substitute.
