- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 100g sugar
- 200g self-raising flour
- 100g butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Grease a baking dish and layer the sliced apples at the bottom.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the sponge batter over the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
