Description

A comforting dish featuring tender chicken and vibrant broccoli coated in a rich garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces, seasoning them generously with salt and black pepper. Sauté for 5-6 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken turns golden brown and is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup of water and bring it to a gentle boil. Add the broccoli florets and cover the skillet with a lid. Steam for 2-3 minutes until they transform into a bright green, crisp-tender treat. Discard any excess water lingering in the skillet.
  3. Lower the heat to medium-low and add the unsalted butter to the pan, allowing it to melt. Stir in the minced garlic, cooking for an aromatic 30 seconds until it sizzles.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to mix thoroughly.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the garlic butter sauce to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  6. Gently fold in the steamed broccoli until every floret is well-coated in the savory sauce.
  7. Remove from heat and, if desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds and freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm, either as is or alongside your favorite rice or pasta.

Notes

For make-ahead tips, prep the chicken and chop the broccoli ahead of time. You can also customize this dish with extra vegetables or different proteins.
