Crispy and flavorful mini bloomin’ onions served with a creamy buttermilk ranch dip, perfect for any gathering.

- 2 large sweet onions
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup mayonnaise (for ranch dip)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (for ranch dip)
- 1 tsp dried dill (for ranch dip)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (for ranch dip)
- 1 tsp onion powder (for ranch dip)
- Salt and pepper to taste (for ranch dip)
Instructions
- Prepare the onions by cutting off the tops and peeling the outer layers. Slice a small piece from the base of each onion so they stand upright.
- Soak the onions in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the soaked onions in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated onions until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain the fried onions on paper towels.
- Prepare the ranch dip by combining mayonnaise, buttermilk, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Serve warm with ranch dip.
