Description

  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour in the warm water and olive oil while stirring until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about one hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Prepare the sauce by simmering crushed tomatoes, garlic, and oregano over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and spread it evenly in a greased baking pan.
  8. Pour the warm tomato sauce over the dough and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Cool for a few minutes, slice into squares, and serve warm.
