A rich and hearty Slow-Cooker Beef Bolognese that is easy to prepare and perfect for a comforting meal.

- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to the slow cooker.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red wine (if using) to the slow cooker.
- Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve over pasta and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- It freezes well for up to 3 months.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
