Description

Steak Diane is a classic dish known for its rich flavor and elegant presentation, featuring tender beef steak served with a creamy mushroom sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 beef steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup shallots, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steaks and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  4. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
  5. In the same skillet, add the shallots and mushrooms, cooking until softened.
  6. Carefully add the brandy and ignite to flambé, allowing the alcohol to burn off.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  8. Return the steaks to the skillet, coating them in the sauce.
  9. Serve the steaks garnished with fresh parsley and additional sauce on top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a good quality brandy.
  • Adjust the amount of cream based on your preference for sauce thickness.
  • Serve with a side of vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
