Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add powdered sugar and lemon juice, mixing until well combined.
  7. Pour half of the cake batter into each prepared pan, then add a layer of the cheesecake mixture on top of the batter.
  8. Top with the remaining cake batter, ensuring the cheesecake is covered.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
  • For added flavor, consider adding a splash of almond extract to the batter.
