Description

Wisconsin-Style Jambalaya is a delicious twist on the classic Creole dish, combining hearty ingredients with a unique blend of flavors that reflect the culinary traditions of Wisconsin.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 lb chicken breast, diced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cups long-grain rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the smoked sausage over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the chopped bell peppers and onion, cooking until softened.
  4. Add the rice, chicken broth, diced tomatoes, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  6. Simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to add shrimp or other seafood for extra flavor.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less Cajun seasoning.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated for easy meals.
