Description
A comforting and festive dish of candied yams glazed with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Ingredients

- 4 yams or sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and slice the yams into rounds.
- Melt the butter in a baking dish and mix in brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Add the yams to the baking dish and layer them evenly.
- Pour the buttery mixture over the yams.
- Add water to the bottom of the dish.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until caramelized.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Assemble the dish the night before and refrigerate. Add extra baking time if cold.
