- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder and paprika
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ground beef and onions in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Combine the cooked beef, onions, cream of mushroom soup, and milk in a mixing bowl. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead: Assemble the night before and increase baking time by 15 minutes. Customize with different cheeses or add vegetables.
