Description

Delicious bite-sized churros, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar and perfect for dipping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat and add flour. Stir until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Add egg and mix until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag and pipe small rounds into hot oil.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  7. Toss warm churros in a sugar and cinnamon mixture until coated.
  8. Serve with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

Experiment with different flavors by adding vanilla extract or incorporate nuts for added crunch.
