Description

A delightful twist on the classic cinnamon roll transformed into a moist and flavorful poke cake, drizzled with cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
  2. Combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large bowl and whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  4. Mix the sugar and ground cinnamon together, then sprinkle over the batter and swirl with a knife.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool for about 10 minutes before poking holes all over the top with a wooden spoon handle.
  7. Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  8. Pour the frosting over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Bake the cake a day in advance and store in the refrigerator to deepen the flavors.
