- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups diced apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Reserve 1 cup of the mixture for topping, and press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Mix diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar, and spread over the crust.
- Crumble the reserved topping mixture over the apple layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before drizzling with caramel.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Feel free to customize with chopped nuts or additional spices.
