Description

A comforting dish of tender Salisbury steak served with rich, velvety gravy, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix gently until combined and form into oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a warm plate.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms to the same skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while stirring continuously until the gravy thickens.
  7. Return the steak patties to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Serve over creamy mashed potatoes or rice, soaking up the gravy.

Notes

For make-ahead, prepare patties the night before and refrigerate. You can use an air fryer at 375°F for 10-12 minutes as a cooking alternative.
