Description

A rich and decadent chocolate cake with a fudge core and glossy ganache, perfect for celebrations and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate fudge for filling
  • Chocolate ganache for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them generously.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl, whisking until blended.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture and beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
  4. Stir in the boiling water slowly until the batter becomes thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Level the top of one layer and fill it with chocolate fudge, then stack the second layer on top.
  9. Pour ganache over the stacked cake and let it chill until set.
  10. Slice into generous pieces and serve.

Notes

Consider making the cake layers a day in advance for better flavor. Adapt the recipe for an air fryer if needed, adjusting cooking times accordingly.
