- 1 lb Italian Sausage
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 1 can (28 oz) Canned Tomatoes
- 1 cup Tomato Sauce
- 12 oz Pasta (Spaghetti or Penne)
- 1 tbsp Basil (fresh or dried)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
Instructions
- Heat the Olive Oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Brown the Italian sausage in the skillet, crumbling it into bite-sized pieces, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the canned tomatoes and tomato sauce, seasoning with salt, pepper, and basil. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Cook the pasta in a separate pot according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce in the skillet, tossing gently.
- Serve with freshly grated Parmesan and additional basil if desired.
Notes
This dish holds up well for meal prep. Cook the sauce ahead of time and toss with pasta when ready to serve.
