Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (for Custard)
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 large Egg Yolks
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the unsalted butter along with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in the dry flour mixture and whole milk alternately, starting and ending with flour.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks for the custard and gradually add milk; cook over medium heat until thickened.
  8. Layer the cooled cakes with custard and freshly sliced strawberries, then chill before serving.
