Description

A delightful and comforting Strawberry French Toast Casserole, perfect for brunch with a crispy top and luscious strawberry filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of challah or brioche bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Butter for greasing
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking dish generously with butter.
  2. Prepare the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Layer the cubed bread evenly across the bottom of the baking dish, and arrange the sliced strawberries on top.
  4. Combine by pouring the egg mixture over the layered bread and strawberries, ensuring every piece of bread is soaked.
  5. Chill the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Bring the casserole to room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Notes

Refrigerate overnight for easy morning preparation. Can also be made in an air fryer for a quicker bake.
