Description

A delightful twist on traditional sourdough bread, combining tangy flavors with sweet strawberries for a unique and comforting loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (active)
  • 1 cup mashed strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water (as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, bread flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and mashed strawberries to the dry ingredients.
  3. Gradually add water until you form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for 2-4 hours.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough gently and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the loaf into a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise again for 1-2 hours.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the bread to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best results, ensure your sourdough starter is bubbly and active. Customize by adding nuts or spices.
