Description

A deliciously tender beef brisket, slow-cooked with savory flavors, caramelized onions, and red wine, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Sear the brisket in a large skillet with olive oil for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove the brisket from the skillet and sauté onions and garlic for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Create the sauce by adding beef broth, red wine, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and paprika to the skillet.
  5. Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour the sauce over it before covering tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Slow cook in the oven for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  7. Rest the brisket for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain to serve.

Notes

Make-ahead options available; flavors deepen when prepared a day in advance.
